We undertook to reduce 90% of our greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some projects, Cemig has conservation units as compensation for the suppression of native vegetation. Those units function as preservation sites for plant species native to the Atlantic Rainforest and Cerrado biomes, in addition to serving as spaces for scientific research, environmental education of nearby communities and havens for wildlife\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Climate change and the electricity sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The world economy is highly dependent on polluting fossil fuels.
