In Portuguese, Social Accountability 8000 stands for Social Responsibility 8000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SA 8000 wants to encourage the participation of all sectors of society in the search for good and decent working conditions. To this end, it was created with the purpose of improving the welfare and the adjustment of social, environmental and economic circumstances to the worker, in addition to developing a monitoring and control system that ensures the continuous compliance of certified companies with the parameters established by the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SA 8000 covers nine themes, four of which are also addressed by the Global Compact:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Child labor;<\/li>\n<li>Forced labor;<\/li>\n<li>Freedom of association and right to collective bargaining;<\/li>\n<li>Discrimination;<\/li>\n<li>Health and safety;<\/li>\n<li>Disciplinary practices;<\/li>\n<li>Work schedule;<\/li>\n<li>Remuneration;<\/li>\n<li>Management system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<p>To learn more about our policy,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cemig.com.br\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/booklet_corporate_social_responsibility-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>click here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corporate Citizenship &amp; Philanthropy&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The investments in philanthropic\/ corporate citizenship contributions are in line with Cemig\u2019s corporate strategy (Mission, Vision, Maps and Strategic Initiatives) and with the three priorities:\u202fdevelopment social and educational (Energetic Efficiency and strengthening of social entities through the AI6% Program) and strengthening of the cultural sector, strengthening the company\u2019s image and reputation in the market and in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social and educational:\u202fdevelopment through Energy\u202fEfficiency Programs (PEEs)\u202fin low-income\u202fcommunities:\u202fReduction 5,491.43 kW in peak\u202fdemand;\u202f\u202f1,853\u202ftCO2 of\u202femissions avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strengthening of social\u202fentities that develop programs\u202for special projects for the\u202ffulfillment of the rights of\u202fchildren and adolescents\u202fthrough the AI6% Program\u202f\u2013 Forming Citizens:\u202f20,000\u202f children\u202fand adolescents benefited,\u202fserved by 157 institutions, in\u202f79 cities in the area covered\u202fby Cemig;\u202fThere\u202fwere 28 mentions on the\u202fAI6% Program in the press,\u202fgenerating BRL\u202f60,889\u202fof spontaneous media in\u202fprint, online and television\u202fnewspapers, with 100%\u202f\u202ffavorable\u202fmaterial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world\u2019s cultural and natural heritage:\u202fCemig is the largest investor in Culture in Minas Gerais, according to data from the Minas Gerais State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism.\u202fIn 2021\u202fCemig invested R$ 24 million in culture, directly sponsoring 64 cultural projects.\u202fThere were 1,798 mentions of cultural projects in the press, generating R$ 7,3 million of spontaneous media in TVs, radios, printed and online newspapers, positively mentioning the projects supported by the company.
