Suppliers and contracted parties
Cemig seeks to align suppliers and contracted parties with its vision of sustainability, commitments and corporate values.
Due to its legal nature (a mixed capital company), Cemig abides by Law no. 8.666, of June 21st, 1993, which institutes norms for bidding processes and procurements concerning the direct Public Administration, regulations which are extendable to mixed capital companies. Therefore, Cemig cannot stipulate and endorse distinctions and preferences for procuring suppliers as a function of their place of birth, location of head office or domicile. This makes it impossible to take effective action to privilege local suppliers of any category, be they material suppliers or service providers.
In order to effectively maintain contact with its suppliers, Cemig has developed the Purchase Portal, which is a direct and suitable communications channel. The website is accessible by the general public and features all procedures for active bidding processes, in addition to allowing citizens at large to follow processes, which contributes towards greater transparency and authenticity in processes.
Additionally, Cemig has also developed a Supply and Relations with Suppliers Policy. In this policy all principles and directives are listed in the form of commitments, focusing on the continuous search for excellence in Cemig’s relationship with its clients and suppliers.
In 2010, in order to foster the continuous improvement of suppliers’ products and processes, the Cemig Supplier Award was created, which represented a milestone in the company’s relationship with its suppliers, in addition to providing quality incentives for the services provided and recognizing the synergy between the suppliers and the Company.
