Cemig remains one of the most sustainable companies in emerging countries

22/06/2017

Cemig was selected for the fourth consecutive year as one of the best companies in the emerging market by the Emerging 70 Ranking Index from Vigeo-Eiris, a European expert who evaluates the performance of companies, regarding their practices in environmental, social and governance issues.

The composition of the Emerging 70 Ranking brings together 70 companies from 17 countries that reached the highest scores, from a universe of 850 companies surveyed from 37 industrial sectors and 31 countries.

The ranking methodology was based on 38 criteria divided into 6 areas: environment, human rights, human resources, community engagement, responsible relationship with stakeholders and corporate governance.

Of the 70 companies selected to compose the index, only 4 are from the electricity sector, among them is Cemig.

The selection process consists of inquiries from Vigeo-Eiris to Cemig's website and the Annual Sustainability Report, as well as analyzes of the public information disclosed about the company. Selected companies are reevaluated every six months in July and December.
