Quick Launch

The measure will be valid from January 1, 2016
Cemig has executed the 5th addendum to the concession contracts of Cemig Distribution with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, which ensures the extension of the distribution concession for another 30 years, from January 1, 2016. During the next 30 years, Cemig will remain responsible for providing electricity to a population of about 20 million people residing in 774 mining municipalities in its concession area. Law 12.783 of 2013 and Decree no. 8461 of 2015, brought new parameters for the extension of the electricity distribution concessions, in order to ensure continuity and efficiency in the provision of services, the tariff affordability and compliance with criteria of operating and economic rationality. The goal of ensuring the quality of the service provided and the economic-financial sustainability of the concessionaire are commitments that are intended to benefit consumers.
In this way, the granting authorities, represented by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, decided to renew the concession contract of Cemig D on the basis of the performance observed during the previous term. This achievement is the work outcome of all employees of Cemig, whose performance over the last few years ensured the renewal of the concession contract.
“We've been, in the last few months, directors, superintendents, managers, and employees, representing all bodies of Cemig Distribution, dedicated to the evaluation process of the new contract, aimed at the defense of the interests of the company and of the mining society. We are sure that with the commitment of each of us, we will overcome the challenge that is imposed, ensuring a more robust company and quality service to all of Minas Gerais,” said the president Mauro Borges Lemos.
