Cemig Geração e Transmissão won the bid for Lot D of Aneel, consisting of 18 hydroelectric power plants in the auction held on the morning of Wednesday, the 25th, at Bovespa's headquarters in São Paulo. The Company will pay R$ 2.26 billion in the coming months for the purchase. Three other competitors were registered for the same lot, but they did not submit bids to the committee responsible for the auction.

For Cemig's president, Mauro Borges, the victory in the auction "enables the Company to safely re-plan its future, both to consolidate itself as the largest integrated group of electricity in the country and to move toward new technological frontiers in the energy sector, both inside and outside of Brazil."

Among the hydroelectric power plants bought by Cemig are some that are related with the history of the Company, such as Três Marias, Itutinga and Salto Grande. Três Marias was a landmark in Brazilian engineering because its construction in the 1960s allowed the country to acquire knowledge for the construction of large dams for power generation. Salto Grande generated the energy that allowed the installation of large steel mill facilities of the Steel Valley.

From the 18 hydroelectric power plants bought by the Company, Cemig already operates 14 of them, but its concession by the federal government was terminated. Besides them, Cemig won four new hydroelectric power plants: Ervália, Coronel Domiciano, Sinceridade and Neblina. The new assets added almost 50 MW to the Cemig's Power Generation and Transmission Facilities. The total generated by 18 hydroelectric power plants is approximately 700 MW.

The victory in the auction today is fundamental to Cemig, which has in the power generation its major share of profit. In the third quarter balance of 2015, the generation accounted for 81.2% of the profit of the Company. In total, the lot won guarantees an income of R$ 500 million per year for Cemig, in the next 30 years.
