Espelhos d’água Project - Separated Garbage Collection in Divinópolis

This project was developed in partnership with ASCADI – the Paper, Cardboard and Reusable Materials Collectors Association of Divinópolis. The purpose is to develop a separated garbage collection system so as to minimize social and environmental impacts and foster education directed towards an increased level of health, good citizenship and income generation. The implementation of the project enabled an increase in the useful life of the landfill and raised both social and environmental awareness. This work shows it is possible to generate income without polluting or damaging the environment and facilitates citizen participation while educating people about how to lead a healthier life and providing workers with a profession. Adults, children and adolescents were able to leave the landfill after the implementation of the project. 185 people are being benefited.
