Sewing and handicraft
courses in Belo Horizonte
The volunteers from Asin have, by supplying the funds to
allow for the purchase of a Brother Overlock Industrial Sewing Machine,
assisted in establishing sewing and handicraft courses at the Caminho da Luz
Assistance Association. The association is a philanthropic institution,
founded with the goal of helping underprivileged children by offering them
educational, psychological, medical, moral and philosophical assistance.
Courses in sewing and handicrafts are currently being offered so as to
facilitate the recycling and reuse of the clothing and other materials that
are donated to the institution. The objective is to support the social
restructuring of the parents, providing them with opportunities to generate
and increase the families' incomes and help raise their self-esteem, while
developing creativity and skills and strengthening the link between the
institution and the parents of the assisted children. More than 60 children
between the ages of 3 and 14 are benefited.
