HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELL-BEING POLICY

1 – INTRODUCTION
The Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais – CEMIG, a company performing electric energy generation, transmission and distribution activities, understands that, for the purpose of accomplishing efficiency in its businesses, it is required that its collaborators be properly protected: own employees, contracted employees, employees from contracted companies, as well as the community, be it directly or indirectly affected by the company’s operational system.
2 - PRINCIPLES
2.1 The identification, the assessment and the control of risks concerning the health and safety of the workers and of the community as well, and also concerning the integrity of the assets, are an integral part of the activities undertaken in all work processes, from the drafting of projects all the way to the construction, assemblage, operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
2.2 Being proactive is the basic premise for the promotion of occupational health and safety, guided by the permanent search for improvement, and all actions must be communicated to stakeholders.
2.3 The prevention of incidents and the promotion of health must comply with the applicable legislation and internal requirements regarding the risk factors existing in the Company.
2.4 Safety is inherent to work. No work shall be performed under unsafe conditions. No urgency, nor importance, nor any other reasons shall be invoked to justify the lack of safety at the workplace.
2.5 To every employee it is guaranteed: own employee, contracted employee and from contracted companies, the right to refuse to perform a task for which the Occupational Safety requirements have not been met.
2.6 The fulfillment of the actions related to the promotion of health and safety is a commitment of all the employees: own employee, contracted employee and from contracted companies, regardless of the hierarchical level. Those who exempt themselves from this commitment may be liable to penalties.
