Ethics Commission


The Cemig Ethics Commission coordinates all the Company’s actions under the guidance of the Declaration of the Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct, observing also the Civil Servant and Higher State Administration Code of Ethical Conduct.  In addition to that, the Commission observes all the Global Compact principles in all its activities. 

Therefore, the Commission has the following attributions:

• to assess and deliberate over whistleblowing reports received through the Whistleblowing Line (internal communication channel for Cemig’s employees), through the Ombudsman’s Office, or via messages emailed to the Ethics Commission;

• implement procedures for investigations regarding instances of non-compliance with the Declaration, in addition to assessing the need for revisions to that document.

The Ethics Commission is composed of three superintendents, acting as effective members and another three superintendents, who act as alternates, all nominated by the Executive Board. The commission has a two-year mandate, which may be extended for an equal period.The Executive Secretary of the Ethics Committee is exercised by the Superintendency of Internal Audit.

For the treatment of issues relating to the management of the "Statement of Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct" and "Reporting Channel" by the Ethics Committee and bodies and subsidiaries and wholly owned subsidiaries Cemig has Instruction Procedures IO-07, in which assignments are disciplined and procedures, with emphasis on:

• promote the dissemination of ethical principles;
• operationalization of the Executive Secretariat of the Commission on Ethics and Reporting Channel;
• receiving and responding to complaints or inquiries from employees regarding the "Statement of Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct" Cemig;
• receiving and investigating complaints or queries relating to fraud and other practices deemed illegal.
