Suppliers’ qualification

The basic criterion of qualification for all suppliers is the compliance with current legislation with legal, fiscal, economic, financial and tax evidence, besides the technical verification and compliance with environmental, health and safety requirements before submission of the necessary documentation. The other criteria for qualification of suppliers vary according to the groups of goods and category for which the supplier was classified.

Specific criteria for qualifying foreign suppliers are defined in the Relationship Manual with suppliers and also available in the Procurement Portal.
When performing any engagement, Cemig also requires that all domestic company when registering, they should attach to the documents a statement that they do not employ children under 18-years old in night work, dangerous or unhealthy work, and children under 16-years old in any work for the purposes of provisions of item V of clause 27 and item XVIII of clause 78 of Law No. 8.666, of 06/21/1993, on letterhead paper, dated and signed by the legal representative of the company, under penalty of law.
In cases of material suppliers with greater impact in the electrical system, it is required approval by the Industrial Technical Assessment held in its manufacturing facility. The manufacturing facility is assessed through a questionnaire developed by Cemig based on ISO 9001, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000. They check items related to technical responsibility, human resources, training, technical documentation, safety and hygiene, warehouse, material handling, machine tools, manufacturing process, laboratory, incoming inspection, and measuring devices calibration, quality management, environmental management and social responsibility.
On the other hand, in service providers to the electrical system, it is held the Technical Assessment of Contractors, based on ISO 9001, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000. They check items related to manpower, vehicles, operating and safety equipment, tools, logistics, suitability and condition of the business premises, safety, hygiene, environment, personnel training, registration and compliance with labor law.
Note: Questionnaire items that specifically address requirements for the Brazilian law are not considered to foreign suppliers.
