FILM IN MINAS – AUDIOVISUAL INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Created by the Minas Gerais State Department of Culture in partnership with Cemig, the Film in Minas Program has accelerated audiovisual production in the State, stimulating research and the adoption of new languages and formats that reveal the plurality and diversity of Minas Gerais culture. Broad in terms of coverage, the program allows for the participation both of established directors as well as newcomers, fostering productions throughout the State.

Cemig’s CEO/president, Djalma Bastos de Morais, reminds us that Film in Minas, begun under the management of governor Aécio Neves, has seen its resources increase by over 30%, as have the number of projects enrolled, which, according to him, have grown not only in number, but also in quality. “By centralizing the resources in one program, the Company ensures that the State is benefitting, eliminating intermediaries, so the real winner is Minas Gerais culture”, notes Djalma de Morais.

In addition to Film in Minas, which is a large program, Cemig sponsors the main Festivals in Minas Gerais within the audiovisual realm, such as the Portuguese Speaking Country Film Festival, the Belo Horizonte International Short film Festival and the Juiz de Fora Film Festival. The Ouro Preto, Tiradentes and World Cinema - Indie Film Shows also receive support from Cemig.
