Cemig was the first electric energy utility in the Country to form partnerships with private businesses in an effort to foster new investments in the generation of electric energy. Partnerships The Igarapava Plant was the first hydroelectric power station to be built under this new model. A milestone of the Brazilian electric power sector, Cemig established a new segment in the engineering market with Igarapava - the management of hydroelectric power plants.
Following the success of Igarapava, Cemig built four more hydroelectric plants as a member of various consortiums. They are: Porto Estrela, in partnership with Companhia Vale do Rio Doce – CVRD and Coteminas; Queimado, in partnership with Compania Energética de Brasília – CEB; Funil and Aimorés, in partnership with CVRD. |
